Lingua Legis is a scholarly open access peer-reviewed journal devoted to legal and specialised translation as well as law and language issues, published yearly (online and in print) by the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the University of Warsaw since 2015.

The journal has an over twenty-five year history. In the years 1994-2014, it was issued by the Translegis Publishing House under the auspices of the Polish Society of Sworn and Specialised Translators TEPIS (originally known as the Polish Society of Economic, Legal and Judicial Translators and Interpreters).

Lingua Legis is on the list of scientific and scholarly journals of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science. According to the newest list (published on 1 December 2021), the author gains 20 points for every published article.

The journal is abstracted and indexed in ERIH PLUS, DOAJ, EBSCO, Index Copernicus Journals Master List (2020:68,84; CiteIndex 2020=0,2632), Google Scholar and PBN (Polish Scientific Bibliography) being part of the POL-on system.

Lingua Legis publishes all articles under a Creative Commons License Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) – http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/legalcode.pl – this license authorizes the dissemination, presentation and performance of the work for non-commercial purposes only and on condition that it is preserved in its original form (without creating derivative works).

Lingua Legis is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available online without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, search, or link to the full texts, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.  

Lingua Legis aims at integrating theory and practice by publishing high quality research papers devoted to practical aspects of specialised translation such as terminology, translation problems, linguistic accuracy, translator’s practice, etc.

The Editorial Board accepts articles and reviews not published before, written in Polish and in foreign languages (author guidelines). There are no submission or publication charges.

The submitted manuscripts are assessed by the Editorial Board of Lingua Legis for their relevance with the journal’s profile, and afterwards evaluated anonymously by two independent reviewers (double-blind peer review process) (guidelines for reviewers).
