Abstract

This article refers to the growing popularity of natural, energy-efficient and traditional building, as well as related translation issues and selected mistranslations, together with their potential consequences, such as changing the legal meaning of documents about e.g. passive vs. energy-efficient construction. The characteristics, sources of popularity and the dissemination of construction technologies and techniques are delineated in Introduction to illustrate the cause and potential consequences of mistranslations in texts on ecological, natural and traditional building. Two subsequent sections focus on the differences between selected building technologies and techniques, as well as on some mistakes in English-to-Polish translation and vice versa.
