Professional code for sworn translators and interpreters

Abstract

The author provides a thorough polemic review of Professional code for sworn translators and interpreters, currently available only online and without commentary. He puts forward suggestions as to what changes to the document are needed and discusses the challenges related to certified translation including the structure of the code, the relation between the code and the law, court translation, the importance and scope of faithfulness to the original in certified translation, and translator’s notes and annotations.
