The article aims at outlining to translators and interpreters the civil law mediation in Poland,
a legal institution relatively recently introduced in Poland, along with the Polish,
English and EU terminology analysis. The growing popularity of mediation in Poland and
other EU countries, being a dispute resolution method alternative to judicial proceedings,
will most probably translate into the significantly increasing number of bilingual
and multilingual mediations with the participation of interpreters. Additional practical information
about mediation and legal requirements for prospective permanent mediators
may also be of particular significance to interpreters interested in expanding their career
development.
